Snapshots and restore

Every Box is snapshotted every night. You can also take a snapshot yourself at any time. Every snapshot, nightly or yours, is kept for 7 days.

List snapshots

Each snapshot has a name, createdAt and expiresAt.

Take one now

Before an upgrade, a big refactor or anything else risky:

Restore

af box restore agent1 <snapshot> --confirm agent1 --json

The Box goes back to exactly how it was at that snapshot, and restarts. Anything written since then is gone, so push work you want to keep before you restore.

What snapshots are not

Section titled “What snapshots are not”

Snapshots live on the platform, next to your Box. They protect you from your own mistakes, not from losing the platform. Deleting a Box deletes its snapshots too. Keep anything that matters in git, pushed somewhere else.
